Enhancements

SyteLine Enhancement Request Process

A major benefit of being a user group member is the ability to influence enhancements to the SyteLine product.
All members are entitled to submit enhancement requests, that is improvements that they would like to see be made to SyteLine. These are then voted upon by the membership and the results passed to Infor for their consideration when deciding what goes into future releases of the product.
This does not replace your ability to submit enhancement requests directly to Infor, and we would actively encourage you to do so. The more directions that Infor hear a particular request from, the more demand they will perceive. However, Infor have agreed that requests submitted via the User Group, which have come out at the top of our voting, will be given a higher priority.

2010 Voting
The timetable for 2010 is as follows:

March
Enhancements were emailed in to Graham Little, our Enhancements Co-ordinator;

April
Voting forms were e-mailed to members. Each member company receives 100 votes to distribute between the enhancements lists as they see fit. The deadline for votes received is Friday, 30th April.

May
Votes counted, results collated and published, results sent to Infor.

June
Infor’s deadline for submission for items to be considered for version 8.03

So there is no confusion
Enhancements will only be made to the latest release of SyteLine. They will not be available on older releases. If you need a change making to an older release, this will be chargeable work.

Also, Infor have the final say what goes into their product. If they vehemently disagree with the request topping our vote, it won’t go anywhere, but let’s hope this situation doesn’t arise.

The results from Last Year

The results are presented in descending sequence of votes received. Infor’s comments have been colour-coded; Green is good, going through Yellow and Orange, to Red where they have no plans.

Others ways the User Group can help

Through meeting with and talking to other members, you might find people with similar interests and/or similar requirements. This may mean that you can team together and share the development costs of a particular change. It is known of at least a couple of instances where 2 (or more) companies have independently approached Infor for the same change, and both paid for the same change. I am not saying Infor charged both companies full price for this, the second change if sufficiently similar, should have benefited from the work done from the first, but the benefits to all parties of combining the 2 requests up front should be obvious.

Perhaps there is a role for the SIGs via the web forum to allow members to communicate and make known ideas they have for sharing enhancement requests, seeing whether anyone else is interested, or just registering an interest.

Finally, Nigel Scholes, head of Infor PSO, has agreed to share with us the highlights of his back catalogue of enhancements and PSO developments. There are over 1500 items on the list, many of which would be of no interest to anyone, so he is currently paring it down. Sometimes just being aware of what is out there, of what is possible, is all that is needed. This is not a free option. Infor will charge you to take a previous development and tailor it for your version of SyteLine or your individual circumstances. Very often, PSO developments, to keep the costs down, will have been written precisely to fit the funding company’s system. These are not generic solutions waiting to be taken up. When the list is available, it will be added to this site
